The Lone Ranger (7:30 PM Show)

  • Jul 6, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

I love Johnny Depp...can't help it.  This movie looks like it will be very silly and have lots of cool special effects...at least the trailer looked that way.

The showtime is 7:30, I will be at the theater by 6:30 and we will head in for seats by 7.   Please note:  the movie run time is 2 hrs and 29 minutes!

In general, I arrive at the theater an hour before the show to start gathering people, and we head in for seats about 30 minutes before the show, so we can sit together. This also allows us to take turns getting snacks, etc., before the previews start.

I encourage you to buy your tickets ahead of time they are on sale at Fandango.

If you miss the group ahead of time, come find us after. We gather in the hallway outside of the theater we just saw the movie in, to discuss the film a bit, allow for restroom breaks and to get a head count of all those who would like to go out after for drinks and munchies.

$$$$Managing the after event is much easier if everyone brings cash, so please plan ahead if you want to go out with the group after.$$$

I personally enjoyed the movie, but I seem to be in the minority. Maybe it's because I never watched the originals? Yes, it was stupid...but it was a stupid movie that I didn't roll my eyes at and kept me entertained....

That's okay, Michelle. You can like the movie. We'll still talk to you-but you ARE on double-secret-movie-group probation. :-p LOL ;-)

Some people on this event page talked about seeing Despicable Me2...well it turns out that I am free this Saturday and I have set up an event to see that. Hope some of you still want to see it. :)

I missed this meet up because I got heat stroke yesterday but given the responses I'm reading I'm guessing no one was impressed with the movie.

The kindest thing I can say about the Loan Ranger is that it was entertaining!

I agree Melissa - it was cheap spun sugar - not even real candy. I guess my expectations of Depp had dropped after seeing Pirates 3, which is why i was not particularly disappointed...

5 Stars for the meetup, maybe 3 for the movie.

It was Depp - to expect more than that would have made it disappointing - some sections were unneccessarily long.

The movie was pretty bad. Johnny Depp did his best to be ab interesting crazy indian, but aside from his pergormance, the story was lame. Not funny enough to be a farce and not enough story to be a drama. Cuting out 30 to 40 minutes of the film might have helped...not enough material for 2 1/2 hours.

The movie was an odd failure. It was literally about an hour too long, but had beautiful cinematography. There were about a half dozen really effective scenes in the movie, but almost all of them featured really disturbing violence. The movie featured many totally forgettable performances by usually impressive actors, but Johnny Depp, whom I usually find to be totally bland and forgettable, put in probably one of his four best performances to date. Go figure. Anyway, socializing with a ton of awesome people, before and after the movie, was, well, awesome. Thanks, Doreen & John, for organizing, comme toujours. ;-)

YIPES! Just noticed I made a mistake about the times. The showtime is 7:30, I will be at the theater by 6:30 (not 6) and we will head in for seats by 7 (not 6:30). Sorry for any confusion!!!!
