The Bugs Bunny Film Festival (6PM Show)

  • Feb 16, 2014 · 5:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

As you can tell from this picture John and I are huge fans!   I host an event for this festival every year and it is always silly fun!    But buy your tickets in advance cause this is very popular and will sell out.   It is on the Sunday evening before President's Day. Tickets are now on sale.  The link is below:

Bugs Tickets

Please note, if you want to sit with the group be on time.   This is a popular event and we want to have good seats.  :)

After the movie is over, we will gather in front of the theater (along Brattle Street) for a bit, and get a head count for those who are interested in an after event and then mosey on over to an eating/drinking establishment in Harvard Square.

$$$$$Remember to bring cash if you are attending the after event.   The group will be splitting one check.  So think ahead and bring cash. $$$$$$

Getting There:  The best way to get to the Brattle Theater is to use public transportation.  It is on the Red Line in Harvard Square.   There are also many buses that travel to  Harvard Square Station, so that is another option.   Since it is Sunday, there is free street parking, but street parking is never abundant.

Details about the Movie:

19th Annual! Saturday, February 15 – Thursday, February 20, 2014

A school vacation treat for kids and fun-loving adults alike, the Brattle’s BUGS BUNNY FILM FESTIVAL has been delighting audiences for well over a decade! As usual our first program is the ALL BUGS REVUE, starring everyone’s favorite wascally wabbit – who just turned 75 last year! The second program DAFFY DUCK AND FRIENDS features Bugs’ frequently frustrated second-fiddle, Daffy Duck, alongside the rest of the Looney Tunes. We round out the second weekend with special matinees of a LOONEY TUNES REVUE featuring a completely different program and a few surprises!

We are going to see the ALL BUGS REVUE....eh what's up doc?

In case anyone was wondering, the actual name of the cartoon in which Bugs unknowingly incurs the anger of a(n) (rather self-important) opera singer, then proceeds to torment him by impersonating a hyper-demanding conductor named "Leopold" is "Long-Haired Hare." Wikipedia has articles full of interesting information on individual episodes. For this one, the url is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-Haired_Hare .

Stumbled across this video on YouTube that I thought people of this event would be interested in (I wasn't even looking at Looney Tunes stuff. It's like it knew what I did today. Scary.) Anyway, it's a documentary on Mel Blanc. It's incredible that nearly all the voices we heard today were from one guy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRlmb0xAtBs

The cartoons were great fun, and dinner & conversation afterward, @ John Harvard's, with a small group of close friends was great, too. Thanks, everyone, for coming out. It was great to see you. And special thanks to John & Doreen for being the consummate hosts. A pleasure, as always.

I may not make it. Having heating system problems and still waiting for the plumber to show up. I. Hate. Winter.

And I'll put in a plug for membership here: you get 12 passes to see films with a basic membership, and you get $2.00 ticket prices when you have to pay (screenings that don't accept passes, or once you've run out). The membership has paid for itself at 10 passes used, and the MAJORITY of the films screened at The Brattle accept passes. This is one of the rare film values out there, my friends. (No, I do not work for The Brattle--I'm just a huge fan of repertory theaters.) And the people who choose the films to show have excellent taste!

      Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the FYI and the link, Doreen. Got my ticket. (The process for ordering tickets in advance, on-line for/from The Brattle seems to have been greatly improved since the last time I went through it.)
