Exploring Reusability with d3.chart

Mike Pennisi has been working hard with Irene Ros to create a framework for making reusable charts with d3.js. It's called d3.chart, and it was just open-sourced last month. After a brief overview of d3.js, Mike will discuss what it means for a chart to be reusable, how d3.chart has been built to encapsulate common usage patterns, when and how to use d3.chart, and the Future of the Framework. At times, he may veer into topics from his personal life, but we'll do our best to keep him focused on data vis.

About Mike:

Mike Pennisi is an Open Web Engineer at Bocoup and a contributor to a number of open source projects, including, and Backbone.LayoutManager.

Mike’s primary interests at Bocoup are user interface design, privacy and peer to peer networking on the Open Web. Mike also writes articles on and develops tools for third party JavaScript development such as DressUp and srcdoc polyfill).

    Hey Boston DataViz!

Thanks for coming out to my talk last week. I very much appreciated your
attention and thoughtful questions. If you'd like to review my slides, you can
    find them online:

Try out the library if you have a chance. Make a simple chart, and let me know
how it went for you. Your input will really help us improve the framework!

Love it! Excellent work. I'd love to try integrating d3.chart with my new configurable dashboard library (very fresh, needs a lot of work)

"Exploring Reusability with d3.chart was great! It was highly informative and educational .
Mike 's New England sense of humor added additional value to his presentation.
