The Boston Dyke March Committee (DMC) would like to respond to the recent postings on Craigslist regarding Kristen Porter and her charitable contributions.

The Boston Dyke March is a grassroots organization, organized by hardworking volunteers and completely funded by donations and fundraisers. The Boston Dyke March is one of the oldest, largest, and most successful marches in the country. For the last two years the Boston Dyke March has drawn 2000 marchers.

Kristen Porter has been a long time supporter of the Boston Dyke March. For many years Kristen has organized fundraisers and generously contributed the proceeds to the Boston Dyke March. Over the years, Kristen Porter has raised thousands of dollars for Boston Dyke March. Indeed, all of us who participate in the Dyke March are indebted to her continued generosity.

All who know Kristen Porter know that she works tirelessly to build community in Boston . The Boston Dyke March is not the only community organization that reaps the benefits of her commitment, time, talent, and extraordinary generosity. Throughout the years, Kristen Porter has supported many community organizations through fundraisers and charitable donations.

Kristen planned for the Valentine?s Day Party at Machine to be a fundraiser. She posted a call to the community inviting volunteers to join the organizing committee for the event. The organizing committee chose the Boston Dyke March and the LGBT Aging Project as the beneficiaries of this event. The event itself was organized by community members and all the proceeds donated back to the community.

Kristen, thanks for putting on this successful event. It was enjoyed by many people in the community and the funds raised will play a critical role in planning the 2009 Boston Dyke March.

Regards,
The Boston Dyke March Committee
