|Dear Jazz-28, |
The world premiere production of Deported / a dream play - a "riveting story of the Armenian Genocide" written by a descendant of genocide survivors - will open next March at the Modern Theatre, in the heart of Boston's theatre district.
Come to ALMA for a free preview of the production!
The actors will read scenes from the play, and you'll get an inside look at the play's creation and development through a conversation with director Judy Braha, playwright Joyce Van Dyke (photo) and Dr. Martin Deranian whose mother Varter is one of the play's main characters. The production also features Armenian music and Armenian dance choreographed by Apo Ashjian of Sayat Nova Dance Company.
Joyce Van Dyke is an award-winning playwright whose previous plays include "A Girl's War" about the Karabakh conflict, named one of the Top Ten plays of 2001 by the Boston Globe.
