My jQuery exercises for Chapter 4 here:

I'm getting how the js libraries are shortcuts for writing out longer javascript and how jQuery syncs with the shortcuts within html.

In this exercise, I compared coding the pullquotes using the jQuery:
http://www.iconitive....

with simply styling the pullquotes with CSS only, no javascript:
http://www.iconitive....

I ended up with the same results.

What would be the advantages of using jQuery for a similar task?

Ok, I figured out what is happening. The .CSS for the exercise files is missing the style .pq. I now see that this jQuery script is used to simplify overwriting an existing style, without having to change every instance. I found this out through removing the jQuery and specifying the <span> style to .pq. When I did that, the pulllquote disappeared entirely.

@Nancy -- You are on the right track. Exploring the code, like you are doing, is the best way to figure out what's going on. Kudos.

Well chapter 4 slowed me down - but I'm hanging in there still.
