New England GiveCamp - Hack for Charity

New England GiveCamp (http://newenglandgive...) - April 26-28 at NERD in Cambridge - is looking for more volunteers (and especially graphic designers/front-end developers) to round out the talent pool for the upcoming weekend hackathon.

If you're not familiar with GiveCamp, it's a 48-hour-ish hackathon whereby techies/designers/PMs are paired with over two dozen regional non-profit organizations to help build/renovate/extend websites, work on donor databases/workflow, design logos, etc. Quite a few of the solutions are built on PHP-based CRMs like Drupal and WordPress, so familiarity there and with plug-ins has proved invaluable in the past.

The projects are scoped and vetted ahead of time, so it's a bit different from other hackathons where half the time is figuring out what to do. You'll get to work right away, in a small team that includes a rep from the non-profit, and you'll be fed/caffeinated the whole time. Of course, since it's a "camp" you can spend the night at NERD both Friday and Saturday!

It's an awesome event - now in it's fourth year - so if you can dedicate the weekend to supporting it we'd love to have you on board - and tell your friends! You can register at http://negc2013.event... or contact us at negivecamp@hotmail.com with any questions you may have.

Hope to many of you there,
Jim O'Neil
