The New England Parking Council (NEPC) is a professional trade organization comprised of parking and transportation professionals based throughout the New England area. The NEPC serves as an informational resource, offers networking opportunities to members and non-members alike, as well as hosts a number of events including an annual conference and frequent educational speaker forums. In order to better meet the needs of current members as well as appeal to a wider audience of industry professionals, NEPC is seeking a website that represents the organization as a valuable resource within the New England parking community.

In its current state, the NEPC website (http://www.newengland...) is somewhat outdated and failing to meet its potential as a professional resource. With the help of a development team, NEPC’s goal is to completely redesign its website in a way that will enhance the image of the organization and create opportunities for membership growth by way of real-time and current news updates and flashes, online conference registration capabilities, online payment processing capability, membership only areas, email address retention and distribution capabilities.

Below is an outline of the website redesign scope of work. As conversations develop with a qualified vendor, more capabilities might be incorporated that weren’t previously considered. We anticipate these additions will come about from conversations with the NEPC staff about how to improve upon what the NEPC is asking for. In other words, we are looking forward to working with a designer/ developer who can assists in maximizing the potential for our website, yet keep an eye on the big picture and cost. Interested designers/ developers should send proposals to Dorothy Fennell via email by Friday, September 21st, 2012. Be sure to include along with your proposal: proposed project scope, estimated time frame, planned deliverables, examples of previous work, client references and estimated cost.

General problems with the site/ Special considerations
• Outdate, verbose, color scheme is distracting, informational layout could be better managed, information is redundant and therefore cluttered
• The management of the site needs to be built on a model that works for colleagues who are not a part of the same place; i.e. don’t share a common network and will need to make site updates via the internet
• The development platform needs to appeal to a low-tech crowd; looking for something that will be easy to update by someone with extensive website content experience as well as someone with limited experience
• Visitors to the site/ organization members have a varying degree of experience with internet usage; platform needs to be user-friendly as well as aesthetically pleasing and generally useful
• Allow for industry advertising – as a perk for membership and sponsorship

Site should include the following pages
• Landing
• About
• Organization Membership
o Subset: current members
o Subset: joining NEPC
• Events
o Annual conference
o Speaker forums
o Miscellaneous events
• Sponsorship Opportunities
• Contact information

Functionality
• Provides site visitors concrete and quick understanding of NEPC’s work
• Advertising hosted events
• Capability for online registration/ payment
• Email retention/distribution capabilities
• Display/ contact information of current members

Basic issues needing to be addressed regarding site structure
• Consistent and aesthetically pleasing theme
o Font/ color scheme
• Images, including header banner
• Streamlining a process for making updates to the website for individuals who might be limited in web-based skills
• Minor changes to organization logo
• Increasing opportunities for the use of updated technology to improve the user interface with the site, i.e. online registration options/ payment, etc….
