Level II Metalsmithing for Jewelers with Sandy Harris Murphy
This class will meet on Saturday and Sunday, December 15 & 16, 2018. This is an excellent class if you have taken jewelry courses in the past and would like to further improve your skills. In this class we will practice piercing and overlay techniques as well as forming and finishing techniques to create a pair of matched earrings and a pendant. We will also cover design and project planning, saw tips and tricks, soldering techniques, texturing and finishing techniques. Students will learn best uses for tools including shears, drill press, flex shaft, rolling mill, dapping punches, leather sand bag, holding devices, pitch, resin, dop wax, and gravers. Students should also bring your problems and questions to this class. We will talk about creative work arounds and time saving techniques that will improve your overall production. Prerequisites Level one courses or 2 years self direction. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials require to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 6. Students will be required to sign a waiver. Participants must be 18 or older. CANCELLATION POLICY You may cancel up to 10 business days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $25 processing. Cancellations 5-10 business days prior to the start of the class are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations occurring less than 5 business days prior to the start date will not be refunded, In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.

What we're about

Boulder Metalsmithing Association is a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Our mission is to educate people about the creative and technical skills involved in metalsmithing and to promote the appreciation of metalwork as an art form through demonstrations, workshops and exhibits.

Our Second Saturday Demonstrations are open to the public, everyone is welcome. Demos are $5, or you can pay an annual membership rate of $45 per calendar year (January through December). Membership benefits include free admittance to monthly demos, discounts and advance notice on workshops, a free page on our website, opportunity to participate in First Friday sales and eligibility to use our open studio.
