Lessons From React, In Rails by Joel Hawksley from Github
Description: React has recently risen to prominence and in the process given us a different way of reasoning about the view layer. This talk will explore how we can apply these concepts to building views in Ruby/Rails.
Bio: Joel is a software engineer at GitHub. He has worked on projects including 2FA reminders and the Content Attachments API. He now leads Project Paper Cuts, incorporating feedback from members of the community into GitHub.
Dive Into Kubernetes by Chris Willmore from Kapost
Description: You've probably heard that Kubernetes is a powerful container orchestration framework - but what does it really do? What is it like to adopt and work with? We'll first familiarize ourselves with Kubernetes through a quick introduction of core concepts. We'll then cover the experience of migrating a complex micro-service system over to the platform. We'll talk about what worked, what didn't, and how you can take the leap and get the most out of Kubernetes.
Bio: Chris Willmore, VP of Engineering at Kapost. Chris just moved to Boulder after 10 years in Europe. While overseas his roles included development at Yahoo! Answers, leading a team building content ingestion systems for Shazam, and leading development of a customer engagement platform at SaleMove. When Chris isn't dealing with reverse culture shock, he enjoys reading sci-fi.
