Boulder Wine Meetup Pages

A note from Allan:

Boulder Wine Meetup is a group of Boulder County wine enthusiasts who meet to taste and drink wine. Although started in 2007, the group was inactive and reformed with new enthusiasm in January 2009. We currently have over 700 members and climbing.

For Participants
Our wine tastings generally come in three sorts: large "Wine Socials" where the goal is to have fun while enjoying wine; "Wine Tastings", usually 15-30 people where we do focus on tasting the wines but also mingle and have fun; and "Wine Educations" where the groups are small and we not only taste but learn about each wine as we go. Try one of each!

One courtesy tip: If you RSVP for a meeting and decide you can't make it, please un-RSVP as soon as possible to give others a chance to participate. If you are a No Show twice, we will remove you from the group. If you are having trouble signing up for a tasting because they are all full, keep at it. Our larger meetups usually have space and the smaller ones have a waitlist that often gets moved to the registered list as people cancel.

About Hosting
Most of our wine tastings are organized by group members at their homes. Volunteer organizers select a date, pick a tasting theme, and determine how many people can attend. You need no wine knowledge nor a lot of space - we have had tastings with as few as 10 people (and more than 50). As an organizer, you can purchase the wine and charge attendees or, more commonly, ask people to bring a bottle and perhaps an appetizer to share. Attendees often even bring their own wine glasses so you don't have to have several dozen. So, your cost as an organizer is minimal or nothing.

We only have one criteria for organizers - you need to have attended a meetup prior to organizing yourself. Once you do, just email me and I'll help you decide all the details, pick a theme, etc. It's easy and our group simply won't operate without volunteers.

I realize it is free to join a MeetUp group and most of you will never show in person, much less organize. All I can tell you is it is only one evening of your life and you can afford to bust out of your norm for one evening by hosting!

Hope to see you soon!

Sponsor - Zephyr Wine Adventures charges a yearly fee to operate this group. These costs will be covered by my companies, Zephyr Adventures and Taste Vacations. Zephyr Adventures runs active tours throughout the world, including in wine areas, while Taste Vacations focused on food, wine, and beer tours. Perhaps we'll have a Meetup trip to Sonoma County or the wine country of Chile and Argentina in the future!
