Open Baking Day at the Old Stone House

Come join us for the first Community Baking Day at the new oven!

Bring something to bake -- or several things!  The new oven is huge and it'll be at baking temperature all day long.  We'll also have the fireplace going, for those who want to do open hearth cooking.

Jace and Yasmin will bring:

• Lemon Rosemary Chicken

• Bread

We'll meet at the stone oven next to the Old Stone House. Firing the oven will start around 9am, and we'll bake from 11am-ish until 4pm. Drop by any time!

We'll be outside the entire time, so be sure to dress warmly!  Wear multiple layers!

If you're baking, a suggested donation of $5 to the Old Stone House for the Oven Fund would be much appreciated -- it helps pay for firewood.  Thanks!

What a delicious afternoon. For some reason I couldn't upload pics, but happy to see that others did. Thanks Jace!

So were Gaby's empanadas. There were so many varieties, and all delicious!

All the food was incredible. It was so much fun seeing old friends and meeting new people. Thanks to everyone, and especially to Jace for all his hard work.

The kids and I will stop by. I'll bring twice-baked potatoes. (The oven will only be needed for the 2nd baking.) :-) Should go well with the chicken.

      Jace,

What time would be best to bring the potatoes by? We now have an event that will require us to leave before 2pm.

I'd say, any time! Unlike the old oven, the new one will be mostly the same temperature constantly. We'll probably start around 500 F at 11am and aim to end up at 375 by 4pm. So you could drop by around 12-12:30 and be in good shape to bake the potatoes!

Note that this is for Saturday, December 3... so not this coming weekend, but rather a couple of weeks from now.

You finished?? I know you and Brian were working on it last weekend.

    • Jace

Just about finished, we'll be wrapping it up this weekend (with luck)!

That's fabulous. You have done yoeman's service on this project. We should get a plaque commemorating your contribution, lol! It's supposed to rain on Sunday, but they are saying Saturday looks good.
