DATE/TIME - SUNDAY, 22nd JUNE 2014 @ 2:00pm (for 2:30pm session)

CAST - Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal

SYNOPSIS - FRANK is an offbeat comedy about Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), a wannabe musician who finds himself out of his depth when he joins an avant-garde pop band led by the enigmatic Frank (Michael Fassbender), a musical genius who hides himself inside a large fake head, and his terrifying bandmate Clara (Maggie Gyllenhaal).

From a lakeside cabin, where the band spend 18 months – and all of Jon's savings – recording their new album, to the stages of South by Southwest after the band becomes a viral internet sensation, FRANK tells the story of Jon’s struggle with Clara for control of Frank, his rise to power within the band, and how, ultimately, he comes close to destroying the thing he’s come to love.

A thought provoking and strikingly original and eccentric little film. Although Domhnall Gleeson's character felt as though he was on the periphery of the band the whole time and temporarily interrupted the band's "eco-system", he unintentionally helped Frank realize that he didn't need the big-headed persona to create their own special blend of music. Great to hear people's thoughts on the movie afterwards, as always.

Wot a quirky film! It was very brave for A-list stars like Michael Fassbender and Maggie Gyllenhaal to sign-up for such an indi, experimental film. Initially I thought to myself "Did I REALLY pay money to see this?!" It took me awhile to get on board, but once boarded I was swept away. In fact, more often than not I was in fits of laughter. The 90 degree turn towards the end caught me totally off-guard, providing a poignant message about mental illness and being gentle with all people we encounter. Ultimately, a very rewarding experience.

Frank was a challenging movie, and the chance to get together with everyone after - listening to different views - enriched the film for me. Pizza afterwards was delicious and I really enjoyed the company
