Toohey Forest walk n talk
A hike to Mt Gravatt lookout. This year it's more about connecting with other people. Have a chat and enjoy what Toohey Forest has to offer and make some new friends along the way. A fantastic way to see the sights of Brisbane as you walk through just one of the city’s bush areas. The walk can be anything from 9 to 13 km. While walking along the path, gravel and rough terrain. You will be chatting with fellow walkers which then makes the distance every enjoyable. Start at 600 Toohey Rd Tarrginidi. out bound side A walk to Mt Gravatt lookout. Going along some sealed paths along gravel trails then, to a terrain that’s up and down and all around., We will start at Toohey Forest car park along Toohey Rd. Then make our way to the look out and back again. There are a number of ways to get to the top of the mountain. Depending on the day and conditions we go a different way every month. The walk takes approx. 2 hours, this depends on the tracks we take and the number of people. Can go up 2.45 hours. You need good footwear, walking clothes, hat, sunscreen (if you use it), water, Sunnies and a good story to share. There will be a few hills and this may challenge some people. Some level of fitness will be needed. In saying that I have had people just beginning walking make it. We are there to help and support you ever step of the way The car park we are meeting in is the outbound side of Toohey Rd. There is more car parking space across the road. If you can organise car-pooling would make it easier. My number is 0411 665 884 if anyone has trouble finding us

Shanee's Vision

i envision this group being more about spending time in nature with wonderful people than fitness hiking, but we will see how it evolves! small groups of campers, moderate hikes and through hikes on some of the incredible trails around south east queensland and northern new south wales. i hope to have frequent hikes going, and everyone who wants to can invite others on outings! open to all!!

Graham's Bit

So far we have been able to stay true to Shanee's vision. The group is more about the social aspects of enjoying the wonders of nature. Over time the group has evolved and grown into something we can all be proud of. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us. We are a very diverse group of people so when you join we will be even more diverse.

David's vision

My vision for the group is one that caters for a wide range of people. From those that enjoy smaller city walks, to those that enjoy 2-3 hours of fresh air and scenery close to the city, to those that like to stretch their legs on longer adventures. I don't see this as a group that ventures off the beaten track, but one that enjoys the marvellous tracks that the parks service provides.

Additionally I would like to see more emphasis on weekend camping trips that coinside with day hikes. That is to say weekends where there are one or two day hikes with a camping option. And members can choose to hike, camp, or do both!

While I am reluctant to say 'adults only' the group has developed into a sanctuary for adults.
