We are camping at South Ballina Beach Park for 3 days from Thu 25th April (ANZAC Day) with another family friendly meetup group. The Camping ground is situated in an unsurpassed location of natural seclusion with a complement of wonderful recreational facilities and miles of priceless ocean beaches and saltwater fishing at its best.
How to reach: Ballina is about 200km from Brisbane towards south. From Brisbane/Gold Coast take Pacific Hwy up to the new Ballina Bypass that has just opened. The quickest way to get now is to stay on the freeway, and take the 2nd Ballina Exit - River Street Exit (not Tamarind Drive that will take you through Ballina). Take the left hand exit at the roundabout interchange as you come off the freeway and head north. You will come to the first roundabout, and take the right hand road into Burns Point Ferry Road (you will be able to see the Big Prawn on your left one block up). Drive on to the Ferry (leaves every few minutes, drive on - drive off, $4.40 per vehicle). Take the first left hand turn into South Ballina Beach Road, campsite is the last place on the right, look for the flags on the fence.
Facilities: Toilets and hot showers, laundry, kiosk/shop, gas refills, ice, camp kitchen, barbecues, pool, playground, boat ramp, pets. For more information visit: http://www.ballinabeachpark.com.au
Campsite booking: You will book your own site by ringing (02) 6686 3347. Tell them to book under group name 'Brij' or 'Social Walkers & Campers' so they can put us in our separate area for non-powered site. Normally they book a site for 2 people ($42) but for our group the fee is $21/p/night for un-powered site (un-powered sites have no number). If you want powered site ($52/night/2ppl) then ask them to put you in Gazebo area reserved for 'SE Queensland Campers', which is close by.
Carpooling will be arranged a week before the event based on the answer to the carpool question when you click RSVP. Please offer $25 to your driver for the return trip.
Things to do:
There is range of activities available at the venue. And for Anzac day long weekend, they have some special ones (see their email sent to me below). Beside that, beach swimming and beach walk is close by.
ANZAC DAY LONG WEEKEND – THE GREAT AUSSIE WEEKEND ESCAPE ANZAC Day long weekend is very popular with our regulars – lots of great music, kids entertainment and a festival vibe having fun in the sun. Plus we are doing 'two up' this weekend – this is a lot of fun for everyone.
