Join us for a hike to Mt Gravatt lookout. The walk Is more about the chat than the walk. It's about connecting with people. Have a chat and enjoy what Toohey Forest has to offer and make some new friends along the way. We Start at Toohey Forest car park along Toohey Rd. We then make our way to the lookout and back again. There is a path that connects the 2. Each time we try to do a different track to the summit. Start at 600 Toohey Rd Tarrgindi. The walk is about a 10km round trip approximately. Takes approx. 2 and a bit hours this depends on the tracks we take can be up 3 hours. You will need good footwear, walking clothes, hat, sunscreen (if you use it), water, Sunnies and a chat if whoever is there. Also, some food can be handy. There will be a few hills and may challenge some people. Some level of fitness will be needed. Help is always available :) The car park we are meeting is the bigger one. It is an actual car park, on the outbound. There is more car parking space across the road. If you can organise carpooling would make it easier. My number is[masked] if anyone has trouble finding us. I look forward to seeing you all again.

  • Surmount the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk-stage 3

    M4 Great Walk Entrance

Having recovered from an injury, I'm keen to get back to doing some serious but sensible walking so I'm suggesting the same walk that I posted earlier but was obliged to cancel. I'd like to include some parts of the Great Walk in the Sunshine Coast hinterland again this year and, for no particular reason, I've chosen section 3 to start with so I hope you will join us on a 15km walk from the M4 entrance gate to Gheerulla Falls and return. Great Walk map (http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/great-walks-sunshine-coast/pdf/schgw-entrances-map.pdf) The track begins with a mostly flat 2.5km bush followed by another 2.5 km along a service road before arriving at the Ubajee walkers' camp. From the camp the track descends about 250m over 2km into the valley below, then a short 600m of service road and track to the base of the falls which, unfortunately, are very unspectacular. Return is along the same route. We will find a cosy cafe after completing the walk to partake of hot or cold drinks and chat about the walk or anything that comes to mind. Track Grading: The walk is classed as Moderate Grade (AS Class 4) • Distinct tracks with junctions sign-posted, rough track surfaces with some exposed roots and rocks. • Variable in width; muddy sections, steep grades and steps may be encountered. • May be extensively overgrown; hazards such as fallen trees and rockfalls likely to be present. • Caution needed at creek crossings, cliff edges and naturally occurring lookouts. • Moderate fitness level with previous experience and ankle-supporting footwear strongly recommended. Carpool: As this walk is an hour forty minutes drive from the city it includes an optional car pooling pickup at Toombul train station (park and drive carpark (https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/1052+Sandgate+Rd,+Nundah+QLD+4012/@-27.408015,153.059459,16z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x6b91585faee038a5:0xa2b0161e11cc095a?hl=en) under the Hogs Breath bill board on Sandgate Rd) at 7:15AM. Can you please use this arranged pick and not post notices regarding travel unless your travels do not pass near the inner Northern suburbs i.e. you're travelling over the gateway or you live north of the city.
