Spanish Book Club: Las niñas del naranjel by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara
Details
Hello everyone! In June we're going to be reading Las niñas del naranjel by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara.
This book follows protagonist Antonio de Erauso through the wilds of the New World. He writes a letter to his aunt, the prioress of the convent he escaped as a young girl. Since leaving his past behind, he’s become Antonio, conquistador. Now, hiding in the jungle and hounded by the army he deserted, Antonio is caring for two Guaraní girls he rescued from enslavement. But the New World has one more metamorphosis in store, which might save them all from extinction.

It's highly recommended that you read the whole book (in Spanish, English or the language of your choosing!) before the date of the book club; however, you are still welcome to come if you don't quite manage it.
An intermediate/advanced level of Spanish is welcome but not mandatory. The goal of the book club is to analyse the book of the month and engage in literary discussion, rather than to simply practise a language (however, you are welcome to listen in, in order to learn new phrases in Spanish).
¡Te esperamos!
