Creating Location Based Experiences in a Pandemic
This session is sponsored by Auroch Digital, developers of games including Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Mars Horizon and Brewmaster. They have a wide number of vacancies as they expand. Have a look at their jobs page for positions in a wide range of disciplines including Unity developers, artists, UI/UX and more. They're a highly respected member of the Bristol game development community so delighted to partner with them.
Sorry for the delay in organising the next one. Had a bit of difficulty finding a venue as dBS are a bit busy with their new academic year starting. We've found an alternate space though and hope to be back there soon!
In the meantime, Co-op Mode have graciously stepped in to host us as there is no Bristol Games Hub social this month. Viki will be sharing her expertise this time. Her talk description is below:
"In early 2020, Viki joined an exciting new project, The Big Fix Up which combined beloved characters Wallace and Gromit, with cutting edge augmented reality technology to bring them into the real world locations around Bristol, due to launch in the summer of that year.
When the pandemic hit, the project had to pivot as the team, along with the rest of the world, had to begin working from home, and any events encouraging people to gather in city centres were banned.
This talk will discuss how the Big Fix Up was adapted to still release during the pandemic, how the follow up game was developed around restrictions, and the lessons learnt about creating augmented reality experiences based in real world locations."
Should be a really interesting talk! Looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. We'll go to a nearby pub afterwards to network!
Will be aiming to stream this but more details will be made available nearer the time.
