Thinking of adding an activity/event/social to this group? Great!

Please make sure you read/agree with all of the information on this page before posting a meetup suggestion and send the group organiser a message if you have any questions or would like to be more involved with the running of this group etc. :)

Quick checks before adding a meetup - have you...

...specified a meeting point (usually a café or landmark)?
...included details of how people will find each other at the meeting point?
...checked that the meeting point will be open/accessible and is it big enough for the maximum number of people you're expecting?
...chosen a meetup/location that is accessible to people in Bristol (off-area meetups will usually be deleted)

This is an informal meetup group created to allow like-minded adults to connect with each other and go cycling. As such, everyone's responsible for themselves, but obviously keep in mind that there's no insurance or licensing etc. Nor is there any scope for assistance with financial costs incurred. Essentially this is a community noticeboard, but on the web.

The meetup itself

When organising a social here (via an meetup suggestion or if you're flagged as an 'event organiser' etc):

1. Anything listed must provide a location, have a host (who can definitely make it), and ensure that people can find each other as well as a description*. This group is intended for Bristol cyclists, so usually meetups should be starting from the Bristol area and/or have some association with Bristol.

A sign to download/print is available in 'files'

2. You need to check whether the meetup location/venue will be open (if not meeting outside), have capacity and if advanced booking is required etc. Please be aware that the number of people who turn up to a meetup will not necessarily match the number booked on! A contingency meetup venue may be a good plan. If you choose to share your mobile number, please remember that this is a publicly accessible group.

*NB Please do not copy event descriptions from elsewhere unless you have permission of the copyright holder - if the info for an event you're organising a social to is on the web, then include a link instead.

Types of event/activity/social

As the general idea is to enable meeting others to go cycling, the essential thing is that anything posted on here has a time and place with a way of identifying the other attendees and organiser(s).

If you're organising something like a community activity/event and are using this group to publicise it that's all good, as long as you're providing an opportunity for members of this meetup group to get together (rather than, for instance, simply publicising your event as this is not an event listing site - the group discussions are open to all members to post things too though).

Please do not use this group as a way of circumventing pay-for socialising site (or similar) activities (eg do not create a social here that happens to 'bump into' a commercial site social).

Do feel free to dovetaill a social here with one you're organising through mechanisms such as public Google+, facebook etc events though.
