Drink a Toast to the Queen
Okay, we realize that the Jubilee will be a fading memory of bonfires and fireworks by the time that this happens but news takes longer to travel to the colonies.
We know that we have many different points of view regarding the concept of the monarchy in modern times but I think that we can all agree that the Queen has served in her role with dignity and honor and that to drink a toast in congratulations to her 60 years on the throne would be appropriate. Besides, we can never pass on the chance to have another reason to celebrate across the social strata with fellow expats and lost souls.
We (Phil and Peggy Freeman) will host a potluck celebration of the Diamond Jubilee at our home in the distant suburb of Leeds known now as Ahwatukeee. The theme for the evening will be the United Kingdom 1952 those of you with a sense of adventure and/or nostalgia may either dress appropriately for that date or bring food that may have been eaten at that time. An appropriate prize will be awarded for the best of each. For our part, we will attempt to have our house moved adjacent to the one next door to create a semi and to have the Phoenix City Council install cobblestones in our cul-de-sac.
We look forward to a splendid evening of food and drink with all of you.
