Happy New Year!
Welcome back! As promised, we are kicking off this year with a PUB QUIZ (so pray that all those brain cells you drank away over the holidays return in force by the end of this month)!
We are returning to Scallywags at Yonge and St Clair who were great hosts last time around and are looking forward to welcoming us back.
The venue is nice, clean and very spacious as well as very easy to get to from St Clair subway station just a few yards from the Yonge Street and St Clair Avenue intersection.
The new year is always a good time to start something new so if you have never been to one of our Pub Quizzes before, they are fun nights, the questions aren't too hard although we do throw in a few toughies but do remember that its the taking part that counts.
So come along if you are looking for a good laugh and the chance to meet some new people and if you are worried about coming by yourself, you are welcome to bring a friend to keep you company (they don't have to be British) and if you get stood up, dont worry, myself or one of the other organizers will introduce you to a group looking for another team member.
If you are popular, have lots of friends and want to bring a whole team, thats OK as well!
Some info about the quiz:
Start time: 7:30 Sharp(ish) if we know there are several people on their way who are running late we will delay the start for a short while but will start the quiz at 8:00pm at the latest.
Teams: Generally between 4-6 people but less or more is ok as long as you call all fit round the table. Feel free to post a comment if you are looking for a team or to form a team and other members can send you a message or post their own comment and you can get a team going that way.
Format: We have a number of rounds: general knowledge, sport, tv/film, history etc. as well as a listening round (music, theme tunes, decipher a sound etc.) and a picture round (face mash, identify the location etc.)
Marking of the answer sheets: The organizers collect the answer sheets and tally up the totals and during this time it allows the group to mix and mingle as no doubt there are other members who you have met at a previous event who you want to say hello to.
Prizes: After we have finished marking the sheets, we award prizes to the top 7-8 teams (out of a usual 18-20 teams).
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and I look forward to seeing you at the end of January!
