• Newbie friendly backroads ride to Kent, CT

    680 White Plains Rd

Gather up, and then head up north all local roads from Bronxville, NY to Kent, CT. We'll keep it to 2 / 2.5 hours of riding to Kent.

Lunch at Kent - or at Carmel. We'll take a few stops in between for the tired folks 🙂

Depending on the mood, we'll ride up north on Rt 7 more - Route 7 is beautiful after Kent.

We'll head out on the road back around 2 probably. We can either ride on the highway and get back fast, or do more local roads again.

This will be an easy paced, cruiser / street bike friendly ride. For the sportsbike / crotch rocket folk: I know these types of rides get very tiring very quickly, so please be prepared for wrist pain, neck hurt and slow speeds if you want to join in. We DON'T ride fast, so make sure you trim your expectancies as such! 🙂

Kick stands up at 09:30 AM. Please come with a full stomach.

We'll adhere to social distancing - 6 feet between the motorcycles!!! 😠 Kidding, kidding, just don't hit each other and we'll be fine 😀

Please come with proper gear. If you don't have a face mask, have a bandana with you so that we can mask up when necessary. It's still good practice.

We won't do any highways, but it's good to have an ez-pass with you just in case.

We'll meet in front of Barns & Noble parking lot. There's a gas station near by as well.

  • Motomarathon 2017

    Garnet Hill Lodge

    http://www.motomarathon.com/events.html

Motomarathon is in NY this year again! I did it in 2015. It's a lot of fun but it's also a lot of riding. First day it was ~450 miles, consequent days were not any different averaged 400 miles every day. It's NOT a race and the routes are selected by local riders so every day you get to see something unexpected and pretty impressive.

Last time I camped at Lake George; woke up real early every day, got on the road real early. Rode it all out and actually was the first to finish every single day. No medals, and realized that that was a bad idea because there's nothing to do around Lake George every single day... I just solo'd it.

It'd be way more fun with a tight group.

Let me know if anybody is interested for this, please. And ask questions if you have any, as usual. This year it's in Adirondack...

    Online event

I'll be riding to Max BMW tomorrow morning, will be back by noon time. Ping me if you want to tag along

  • Saturday ride

    680 White Plains Rd

Backroads discovery ride to up there somewhere. There are a few roads that I want to checkout. It looks like it's going to be partly cloudy - or partly sunny...

@richie I want to checkout that Pine Plains town, but I'm not going to ride on Taconic (at least not on the way up, maybe on the way down, who knows :-))

  • Day ride up north (we'll decide the destination depending on who attends)

    680 White Plains Rd

Let's ride! Depending on who attends we'll decide the destination. I want to see my lakes /w green foliage dammit!!!

Whomever joins it will be a backroads, laid back, normal speed kinda ride. It will be day-long. Newbie friendly - we always adjust depending on the competence level of riders so don't hesitate to join if you are a beginner. Stop every once in a while to enjoy the scenery...

Kickstands up before 10 - y'all know I hate getting stuck in random traffic.

  • Introduction to offroading (off-tarmac rather)

    680 White Plains Rd

Introduction to off-road (off-tarmac rather) in CT this weekend (Apr 10). I have the GPX file of Max's "Scrambler Route" ~95 miles of light gravel, hard-packed dirt that you can do with any tyres on almost any bike other than crotch-rockets (though I did that once just to prove a point. it's doable, but it's nowhere fun)

I want to say any level of riders are welcome but I think it's safer to say "if you don't feel confident on your bike on the road, don't attempt this, yet"

Max BMW will also be doing the ride, but for them "only BMWs are accepted" for BkERs: If you can keep the bike up, join up!

We'll convene by Barnes & Noble in Scarsdale and then take backroads to Carmel, have brunch/breakfast/lunch whatever and then take the highway to Max's and then follow the route without mixing with the BMW folks :-))

Then we'll come back to Max's to chill out a bit and then geek out on the bikes a bit and then head back home.

I'm not sure how long this will be - but expect a day of riding and fun. It's going to be a gorgeous day. As I said, this will be an introduction to those who never got off the tarmac; it will be as slow as it needs to be, controlled and we'll all help to those who may need it.

Those who don't want to do the offroad portion can peel off at Max BMW, of course.

Any road-worthy motorcycle can do the scrambler route, but I'd stay away from a crotch-rocket / sports bike (leaned over, hugging the bike ergonomics) it's just not fun. If you can sit upright, the bike is good enough :-))

Any road-worthy-tyres are good. You definitely don't need knobbies. Though I'd stay away from slicks (see above)

Kickstands up at 9:45. We'll probably be in Carmel around 1, 1:30 so eat something light please. We'll stop every other hour or so of riding for those who need it.

If you have questions and whatnot, I recommend to go on Discord and ask there

  • Newbie Ride to Cold Spring

    West 57th Street & 12th Avenue

  • Newbie Ride to Cold Spring

    West 57th Street & 12th Avenue

Will meet at 57th street between 11th and 12th. There should be some parking spot on the sidewalk where we can congregate :-)) We'll join westside highway right from there.

This one's for the beginners. It will be a slow paced ride up 9A a mixture of local roads and parkways (somewhat of a highway without the trucks)

We'll stop regularly, talk about riding stuff. If anybody has questions, tips & tricks, I'll try to answer. It will be a leisurely, comfortable and safe ride. Anybody can join, just don't expect speed and thrill :-)

We will ride up westside to Henry Hudson Bridge, then Saw Mill River parkway then exit and stop at Bronxville. Probably around 30 - 40 minute mark. Then get back on the road, take Sprain Brook to 9A to 9 (skipping the scary mountain twisties of Fishskill for another day) and stay on 9 up to 301 and then take 301 to Coldspring. That would be another hour or so.

We'll stop at Cold Spring - it should be packed by that time. Hang out for a while see if we can grab a light bite or drink, walk around and relax. Then head back down the same route.

    - We'll stop as many times as necessary, gas & stretching
    - We'll ride slow.
    - We'll ride in stagger formation.
    - Nobody rides in between vehicles, nobody rides faster than the traffic

    - Please come fully and properly geared - no squids.
    - Please have a mask for the times we'll disembark and wander around.
    - Please have an EZPass.

Let me know if there are any questions. We are meeting early so as not to get stuck in traffic.

Kickstand up at 8:15 AM - please be there early. If you're late call me @ six-four-six-three-eight-five-six-zero-five-zero and we'll wait for you - don't rush.

Please come with proper gear. If you don't have a face mask, have a bandana with you so that we can mask up when we stop. It's still good practice also is required to dine in Kent and to visit shops. I know a good liquor shop for instance.

If you want to bring your own food, coffee etc that's not too bad of an idea. But we went to Kent last week and sat down and ate, though it was weekday and I'm pretty sure on a Saturday it will be jam-pack crowded.

We won't do any highways, but it's good to have an ez-pass with you just in case.
