  • Let's ride all day up north.

    680 White Plains Rd

Gather up, and then head up north all local roads from Bronxville, NY to Kent, CT. We'll keep it to 2 / 2.5 hours of riding to Kent. Lunch at Kent. We'll take a few stops in between for the tired folks :-)) Depending on the mood, we'll ride up north on Rt 7 more - Route 7 is beautiful after Kent. We'll head out on the road back around 2 probably. We can either ride on the highway and get back fast, or do more local roads again. This will be an easy paced, cruiser / street bike friendly ride. For the sportsbike / crotch rocket folk: I know these types of rides get very tiring very quickly, so please be prepared for wrist pain, neck hurt and slow speeds if you want to join in... Kick stands up at 09:30 AM. Please come with a full stomach. We'll adhere to social distancing - 6 feet between the motorcycles!!! :-) Kidding, just don't hit each other. Please come with proper gear. If you don't have a face mask, have a bandana with you so that we can mask up when we stop. It's still good practice also is required to dine in Kent and to visit shops. I know a good liquor shop for instance. If you want to bring your own food, coffee etc that's not too bad of an idea. But we went to Kent last week and sat down and ate, though it was weekday and I'm pretty sure on a Saturday it will be jam-pack crowded. We won't do any highways, but it's good to have an ez-pass with you just in case. We'll meet in front of the Barns & Noble parking lot. There's a gas station near by.

  • Track Weekend (as in Railroad Tracks!) and Around Adirondack Park

Here is the general idea for the weekend: - Starting Friday morning from Bronxville, NY and spend all day riding to North Creek, NY. This is about 230 miles. We'll add local/country roads because highways are boring. - The plan is to stay at a hotel/motel/inn around North Creek or surrounding areas. We haven't booked yet, but will in the next few days, so please let us know if you want to coordinate. - Saturday we'll spend half day railbiking from the historic North Creek Railroad Station through the beautiful Adirondack forest canopy along the banks of the Hudson River, and then over the Hudson on a spectacular trestle bridge (about 6 mile of non-motorized biking!). Reservation for a 2- or 4-seat railbike is required at https://www.revrail.com/ (we reserved our 2-seat railbike today). Then, some late-afternoon exploration of the area. - Sunday is full riding day around Adirondack Park and Lake George (maybe we'll find a nice unpaved country/mountain road) before making our way back to NYC around 7PM. Disclosures: - Feel free to add and plan for any other activity(ies) while there. - Cem will be leading the ride. I'm only responsible for the general direction of where we're going :)

  • Brunch in Cold Spring, NY, Followed by Some 25-mile of Unpaved Roads

Meet-up Location: Citgo gas station / Dunkin' Donuts on the Hutchinson River Parkway (1320 Hutchinson River Pkwy, Bronx, NY 10461). This is about 1.5 miles after the Whitestone Bridge. Time: 8:30AM; KSU 8:45AM Temperatures: In the upper 30s. From here, easy ride to Silver Spoon Cafe for brunch (124 Main St, Cold Spring, NY), because they open early, have good food, and it's a cute town. The ride there will be via parkways, route 9, and/or local roads. After brunch, we'll explore a cluster of unpaved roads extending east from Cold Spring and then south ending near Manitou, including Indian Brook and Avery roads, Old Albany Post and Old West Point roads, and ending with S. Mountain Pass. Hoping to end early afternoon so we can be on our way home before rain starts (anyone trusts the weather report?). Disclosures: 1) I'm not leading this ride, Cem is. I'm only directing from behind :) 2) We haven't been on those unpaved roads before, but Google view indicates they are easy packed dirt with maybe some gravel (NB, these are roads, not trails).
