budapest.rb meetup 2013/11

Here is the final program for the meetup!

• RailsGirls promotion - by the Hungarian Rails Girls (Boglárka Weltz, Brigitta Vitályos and Mária Ackermann)

• Coding Dojo - by Miki

For the Coding Dojo session, please be prepared:

• bring your computer with yourself. You are going to work in random pairs, so if you have no laptop, you'll still be able to join someone, but the more computers are present, the biggest chances that everyone can participate in the fun :)

• please have a ruby 2.0 dev environment on your machine

• have a Github account (you certainly do :) )

See you @ DiNa Office, on Wednesday, at 7PM.

I hope that as I did everyone enjoyed it, it was great fun I think! :) So if you think, we can continue these sessions in the future!

Ah my final solution to the unicode problem: http://exercism.io/submissions/c6f2fe23796b5034c4a3db07

It's a bit hackish, but it does work. You have to know that UTF8-MAC is a decomposed UTF8, therefore it splits accented characters to normal letters and accents.

Sadly it doesn't work against Lackac and Bonyii's test cases, because those characters are ligatures and not accented letters.

It was very useful for almost starters in Ruby as me. I'm very glad that I could attend on this event.

    Fun meetup!
I hope we can do more dojos in future.

Here is the workshop I mentioned: http://app.hwsw.hu/
Unfortunately, it is not very RESTful, so I can't share the exact page / part, but if you go to the Thursday section in the Schedule, and scroll down to the UX section, there are some summaries of what I will be giving workshops about.

    Cheers!

hey! anyone else preparing with a talk for this meetup besides Gergő?

    October 29, 2013

  • Mester B.

I would like to have a conversation rather than a talk about the topic mentioned in this talk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpkDN78P884 I didn't really find actual implementations on the net.

Then you should check out hexagonal architecture (http://blog.mattwynne...). I'm happy to join you in that discussion.

I would be interested in this topic on the practical side, especially, where is it useful to have threads and how can I really harvest the power.
