Buddhist Symposium Field Trip


Women in Shin Buddhism: a History of Devout Practitioners


October 29, 2011 – 12 – 5 p.m.


Explore and honor the women of Jodo Shinshu and the important role they played in helping to propagate and establish Shinran Shonin’s teaching in Japan. Our speakers include Prof. Mark Unno, from the University of Oregon, Rev./Dr. Shoyo Taniguchi a Jodo Shinshu minister, and Mrs. Sumi Tanabe a modern day Shin Buddhist who is working and practicing the nembutsu.

Our moderator is Dr. Linda Engstrom who received her tokudo ordination this year.

If you ever wanted to know about Shin Buddhism and why it fits so nicely into our every life this is the symposium you should not miss. Plus it is free, how better can that be.

Carpooling? E-mail us or coordinate with people you know to carpool to NYC. Some folks will be meeting in front of the Mansfield Freeman Center on Washington Terrace. So you are welcomed to go with them. The Middletown group will be meeting at 9:15 a.m. and will leave 9:30 a.m. sharp.
