The San Antonio Buddhism Meetup

  • Jun 29, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • Buddhist Temple of San Antonio (Chua Phuoc Hue)

This week, we will have a 10-15min meditation followed by chanting. Master Thich Phuoc Quang will be leading us in traditional chants that have been translated into English (follow link if you want to see them before hand). This form of meditation is different from sitting meditation as the goal is to be mindful as you read aloud ancient Buddhist teachings. After the service, those who wish can stay for a vegetarian dinner. Feel free to bring a vegetarian dish, unless this is your first time. If it's your first time, you are our guest. After the first visit you're family.

At 4:45pm (15min prior to this service), Teacher Phuoc Quang will have an open session for the purpose of giving a brief orientation and answering any questions you may have. Also, feel free to follow this link to our files section of the meetup. There you can find a copy of the Chant Book and a document on Buddhist Temple Etiquette.

I count among my teachers-both those I have met and those met in book form- HH Dilgo Kyentse, Dudjom Dorje Rinpoche, Tsogyal Rinpoche, HH Penor Rinpoche, Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso, Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche, Thich Nhat Hanh. I am interested in all aspects of Buddhism but my focus would be the Stages of meditation, Compassion, and Shunyata.
