What we’re about

Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix a non-profit Buddhist Center that is open to everyone, and offers meditation classes, a variety of introductory and in-depth courses, chanted prayers and retreats. Classes take place in our beautiful meditation room and are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation to those who wish to find lasting inner peace and contentment through following the Buddhist path. We are delighted to welcome Kadam Michelle for an inspiring talk on the transformative wisdom of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's book, Universal Compassion. In this practical and accessible course, Kadam Michelle will guide us on how to increase our compassion until it becomes the boundless compassion of a Buddha. Through meditation, we will learn to free ourselves from suffering and develop the power to liberate all living beings from their suffering permanently.
Overview:
In our daily lives, we often become consumed by our own problems, leading to feelings of depression and unhappiness. This course will teach you how to shift your focus, allowing you to develop a deep sense of sympathy and compassion. By applying this compassionate perspective to everyone you encounter – friends, neighbors, strangers, whether rich or poor – you will discover that everyone has their own challenges. This understanding will cultivate a compassionate heart within you, a mind dedicated to freeing others from their suffering.

Through these teachings, you will gain a clearer understanding of how to navigate the spiritual path with confidence and wisdom. Each session includes guided meditations, making it an enriching experience for practitioners at all levels.

At US Festival, we also have the opportunity to receive teachings, meditate and make prayers in the World Peace Temple alongside hundreds of other people.

Supporting One Another in Life's Challenges and Changes

In this series we will learn important skills that will help us deal with the changes and challenges we face in life. We will also increase our capacity to help others through difficult times. This is important in our busy lives, because in our day to day activities we face challenges and changes regularly. We often feel quite capable dealing with them, but there are times when the challenges and changes are too big or come too quickly. We can get overwhelmed and end up feeling uncertain about the future and how to deal with the situations in front of us.

Our new Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Wangpo will share Buddhist advice on how to deal with adversities and how to support others during the difficulties they face. Through this series of talks and guided meditations we will make our good heart a more powerful tool for building a peaceful, happy life.

Using meditation practices to calm the mind, gain clarity, and maintain equanimity in the face of challenges.
September 8: The Practice of Loving-Kindness
Methods to develop and extend loving-kindness, both towards oneself and others, especially during tough times.

Techniques for letting go of attachment and accepting what we cannot change, to reduce stress and anxiety.
September 22: US Festival Substitute - Finding Inner Strength and Spiritual Power
Exploring ways to tap into our inner strength and effort to overcome obstacles.
September 29: Creating a Supportive Community
Building and maintaining a community of support, and how collective wisdom and shared experiences can help us through challenging times.
