BYOB: Bring Your Own Book (Family Affair - Gobblegeddon Make-Up Date)

Gobblegeddon was a turkey! No snow fell, even though all the reports suggested the weathers most foul. Join your favorite neighborhood book club for a double down of the ever-popular BYOB.

I lieu of confusing our Amused Readers to this month's theme with the title "It's A Family Affair" - it IS NOT a call to read the official biography of the classic American funk and soul group Sly and the Family Stone, but instead this month's theme is "Family & Heritage". The month of November is usually an opportunity to reflect - which we usually forsake for more bacchanalian endeavors of feasts amongst family and friends, football and early morning trips to the local shopping malls for fifty per cent off a three hundred per cent mark up. Consider this months BYOB an opportunity to keep to your roots - whether they be mirrored in the works of classic literature like a Garcia Marquez or Steinbeck, or a YA title like Francesca Lia Block's Dangerous Angels or a graphic novel like Chris Thompson's Blankets or perhaps a non-fiction or biography title exploring a great dynasty like the Kennedy or the Tudors, or even just an opportunity to chose an author of your own personal national or cultural heritage - Iceland to Argentina, Israel to Japan, England to America, Hollyweird, Cali-For-Ni-A to Yinzburgh, USA to even Westeros... Winter Is Coming.

Bring Your Own Book is N4B's unique monthly reading group where you choose your own title and come and discuss over tea in a Show And Tell-style forum. We give you a unique theme, but you choose your selection... but our four lettered word for user-friendly is your BYOB.

I'm on my way back to town and running late. If I make it at all, I'll most likely be late. Sorry.

Aloha! I love warm weather salutations. Don't you? Okay, I'm gonna call this one on the advice of the local weather prognosticators and postpone our merriment. I know many of us live in the East End, but others commute - and with this only a short while before both Hanukkah and Thanksgiving - or the festive mash-up (enter wordplay here), we can maybe play it safe over sorry. We will be rescheduling this evening's event - please take note of the new details. Thank you kindly.

    Best,
    Sean

Note. I am currently unable - via the Meet-Up iPhone app - to email attendees a change of event details. This will be rectified ASAP. Regards, Sean

I hope to be there, but if the weather is bad, I will not be joining.

I'm a Maybe at the moment. If the weather gets as bad as predicted I don't want to drive in it! Will update for sure either way.

For future reference, Dorba tea is nice (and closer to me) but I rather miss Toyoko buffet.

Since Jan is the start of the year, I was going to do "new beginnings" (literal or metaphorical). Inspirational stories would work also.

FYI: Toyoko Buffet is closed at the moment with a sign saying reopening soon.

Folks. I'm down with considering another vegan-friendly option for this month. Two options come to mind - Curry On Murray (Squirrel Hill, but a la carte) or Taj Nahal Indian Cuisine (inexpensive buffet, but in North Hills)... or we can just keep it to Dorba. Thoughts?

I like Dobra a lot, too (Tokyo Buffet was getting a little pricey for me each month, but I wouldn't mind returning). I'd be open to Curry on Murray as well.

I am partial to Dobra as well. I'd be open to Curry on Murray though too, I've never been there before.

Sean, this now conflicts with the AMC Doctor Who event. Any plans to reschedule?
