What we're about
This is a monthly mentorship group for men in leadership. For those of us who have pressures, and yet are seeking more meaning, purpose, and fruitfulness in their lives. It's open to men who are seeking sound practical advice on handling their career, finances and other life / lifestyle issues.
The subject this fall is on improving productivity in work life, socially, and personally.
Each session starts with a light dinner (a modest fee will be charged to cover costs), followed by a short talk and discussion.
Our group is facilitated by a local business leader, Grayson Bain.
Grayson began his business career in a humble little bike shop in Vancouver. This led to the creation of the first Canadian "mountain bike". And in turn, this bike shop grew into Canada’s most prestigious bicycle manufacturing firms: Rocky Mountain Bicycles (http://www.bikes.com/) and Race Face Components (http://www.raceface.com/).
In 2000, after selling both companies, he spent many months in relative solitude - writing and reading. He calls these quiet and sometimes dark years, "my back-porch times". Grayson began coaching and speaking to businesses and charities. In 2010, he began "WaterforLife" (https://vimeo.com/channels/bsfphilippines) a social business investing in clean water in the Philippines. On one level, it failed. But on another level this venture was provided as a turnkey opportunity to a charity and pointed Grayson to Kenyan tea. Today half of his energy is put to work in JusTea. (http://www.justea.com/) As a Social Entrepreneur business is what has merged his interest in Justice, Mercy and business. The other half of his time is taken up with consulting businesses, mentoring men, and publishing with Converge Magazine (http://www.convergemagazine.com/), offering voices for those on the way to discovering. He is still a year-round cyclist, commuting 100 km each week
