What we’re about

If you're Butch and you know it, clap your hands. If you're Femme and you know it, clap your hands...
While there is a broad spectrum of gender expression and Being out there, the terms Femme and Butch remain, these identities are tried and true and stand the test of time -- the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I am 59 and I have I've ID'd (very) Femme my entire life, even in the late 70s and early 80s when I was the only Femme amidst the other women in my Women's Studies program -- androgynous women wearing flannel shirts, Levis, hiking boots, and Birkenstocks and very little jewelry, no make up, no heels. They really believed I wasn't as good a Feminist as them, because I wore make-up, heels, dresses, and lots of jewelry. I loved when "Queer" became a permanent part of our vocabulary in the 1980s ACT/UP culture. I was never comfortable calling myself a Lesbian, like the other women. Ever since, my words have always been Queer Femme, with a bunch of other defining adjectives thrown around.
self-actualized, self-identified Butch or Femme? Want to keep the discussion going? Join the group and we'll figure out where to go from there. A place to discuss, do, hang out, create, for Butches and Femmes ONLY. Namaste
