This talk is being held at Basingstoke Discovery Centre in Festival Place from 5pm and costs £5 payable in advance.
What exactly is a butterfly and how do you distinguish them from moths? What species can we find in Britain and how can we attract butterflies to our gardens? Many species of British Butterflies are in serious decline, so can we do anything to help them survive?
An illustrated talk about British butterflies from Dr Ian Bedford, Head of Entomology at the John Innes Centre in Norwich Norfolk. This talk will tell the story of their fascinating lifecycle and also how we can easily distinguish them from moths. It also reveals the problems that many butterfly species are facing within their habitats and how much their numbers have fallen over recent years. However, there are things we can all do to help the butterflies within our home gardens and these will be explained.
