Flying the Canberra – a personal perspective. An illustrated presentation by Squadron Leader Joe Marsden. £4.00 per ticket ...

Squadron Leader Joe Marsden's presentation will concentrate on flying the RAF's first jet bomber - the Canberra. His talk will be illustrated by photos and film clips to show its capability, briefly covering the history but mainly talking about the personal aspects of flying this famous aircraft. Discover the trials and tribulations of towing targets for ground-to-air firing by naval guns, along with Army shoulder-launched missiles and Army and RAF anti-aircraft weapons.

Joe will also explain why the English Electric Canberra, a British high speed jet medium bomber largely consigned to the history books, still flies today for space agency NASA in the United States, 60 years after it first entered service. Come and discover a wealth of facts and anecdotes about this record-breaking aircraft.
