Calgary is celebrating 150 Years and the Central Library is hosting various historians discussing different aspects of Calgary's history. I have signed up for a couple FREE events on Friday, July 25. In between, there is time to go for lunch nearby.

Our First "Big City" Intersection: The Ups and Downs of 7th Avenue and 1st Street West
We’re all concerned about the future of the irreplaceable Hudson’s Bay building, but it occupies only one corner of an intersection that was once the pride of Calgarians. From prairie grass to the C-Train, Doug Coats shares the amazing story of this intersection.

Highlights from Calgary's First 150 Years
Join historians Don Smith, Shaun Hunter, Stacy Kaufeld, Peter Jull and Kathleen Rogers as they look at Calgary in four different time periods around 1875, 1925, 1950 and 1975-- with a glance at 2025—their examination reveals changing images of, and perspectives on, our city’s past and select influencers.

Other considerations:
- As the event date approaches and you find out later you can no longer attend, if you are either on the Attending List or the Wait List, please revisit this Meetup page and change your RSVP to Not Attending.
- "No Shows" (those that sign up but then don't show up) will be noted. Please respect other members who are on the Wait List that want to attend.
