CALLING ON ALL CREATIVES (and non-creatives) ALIKE !
As part of our self-care, the health benefits of regularly practicing art and being creative has been studied and proven time and time again. ***Studies show that the levels of the stress-related hormone, cortisol, drastically drop when we spend time making art. *** So let's have a fun evening of socializing, painting pottery, and lowering our cortisol !
Color Cafe Kensington provides everything you need to relax, have fun, and engage with your creativity such as various types of pottery pieces, painting supplies, instruction, and inspiration. And honestly, NO artistic ability is required as there are various easy painting techniques that may be used which anyone can master! :-) The possibilities of what you can create are endless!
WHEN:
Thursday, July 24
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (you may stay up until midnight)
WHERE:
Color Cafe Kensington
1414 Kensington Road N.W.
(403) 249-4386
(The 6:00p start time could allow us enough time after work to grab a quick bite to eat before heading on over, but don't sweat it if you can't get there until closer to 6:30p. Note that there's a lovely coffee bar with various sweet nibblies for purchase inside the studio. NO outside food or drink is allowed.)
BILLING:
All you pay to paint pottery is the price of the piece(s) you choose which range in price based on type and size. On average, most participants spend between $40 - $80, but there are items for less money as well as for more.
Stay as long as you wish (closes at midnight). Should you not be finished in 1 visit, repeat visits on the same project are free of charge (unfinished projects must be taken home & brought back to complete -- be sure to bring your receipt.)
PARKING:
Parking can be challenging in Kensington, but Color Cafe is located in a small "strip mall" toward the end of Kensington Road, within a block of 14th Street, and has a patron parking lot in front of it. Additional parking is along Kensington Road (free after 6:00p).
SOME CONSIDERATIONS:
- You must head back to Color Cafe sometime within 30 days to pick up your finished & fired piece -- it's usually ready within 1 week. Items not picked up within 30 days will be donated.
- I am capping the attendance at 5 people. If you are interested but miss the cut-off, please join the waitlist. If there is way more interest than I am anticipating, then I will considering making it a "Color Cafe Group Event" (6+ people) which may incur additional associated "group" costs by the studio that will be first communicated to ensure everyone agrees to it.
- As the event date approaches and you find out later you can no longer attend, if you are either on the Attending List or the Wait List, please revisit this Meetup page and change your RSVP to Not Attending.
- "No Shows" (those that sign up but then don't show up) will be noted. Please respect other members who are on the Wait List that want to attend.
- If you are running late or otherwise need to contact the event organizer, please post a message in the Comments below.
- If you are feeling ill, please do not attempt to participate. Stay home and get better.
- Be respectful to others and observe personal boundaries. This includes the venue staff.
- If there are any concerns with another member's behaviour, let the event organizer know so this can be dealt with immediately.
