Moonlight Snowshoe Hike!

It was a blast the first time around, so why not do it again! This trip was my first meetup and it got me hooked. what a great way to start the year!

So here is the plan. We meet at the Albertsons parking lot at 5:30PM. Figure out carpooling options. Then head off to have dinner at the Brewers Union pub in Oakridge: A family joint with good food and great REAL ALES. The moon will rise about 6:30PM, so if we get to the trail about 8:30-9PM it will be over head. Last year, the moon was so bright I didn’t need my light on the trail. But bring one anyway! You’ll need to rent snowshoes if you don't have them. Try Bergs ski shop or REI. Also if you plan to be a driver you will need two (2) one-day park passes, also available at REI. I’m driving and can take 3 passengers. The trail is an “out and back” so we can vary the length at any time if conditions change. When we get to the shelter we can warm up before heading back. This will be an easy hike into Gold Lake, but know your limits. If you like this trip, the next might be for you too: It’s going to be an overnight trip to one of the shelters.

Thanks for getting this going Lars, you rock. Bergs is a great place to get shoes for the trip. They require that you have a credit or debit card, but they don't run the card, just take an imprint. The cost of the rental is around $14 a night, which may include poles - make sure to have poles.

I don't want to rain on the parade here, but do we think that there'll be enough snow?
