Canucks Amuck Monthly Wargaming Meet-up

  • Mar 23, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • Forest Hill United Church

March's Theme is the annual "Ides of March Madness" - games which involves multi-player action at the grand strategic scale, with just a touch of betrayal. Candidate games include: Space Empires 4x (GMT), Here I Stand (GMT) Soldier Kings (AP), Diplomacy (AH), Struggle of Empires (WG), Titan (VG), Virgin Queen (GMT), Wizard Kings (Columbia), etc. You need not play a game related to the theme; the idea behind the theme is to get people to play games or explore eras or systems that they might not otherwise.

Remember to pre-arrange your games and opponents on our message board in this thread:

http://www.meetup.com/canucksamuck/messages/boards/thread/32208342

Newcomers are always welcome. You don't need to bring a game if you don't have one; other members usually bring far more than are necessary.

We will be playing in the parlour of Forest Hill United Church, located at 2 Wembley Road, just north of Eglinton on Bathurst Street. Look for paper signs posted on the doors to guide you to the room. When you approach from the parking lot, go to the doors on your left, not the main doors into the sanctuary.

Some parking is available in the streets nearby the church and you may also park in the lot if there are spaces available - many spaces clear up right around 11 AM.

To get to the church by TTC, take the #32 bus east (if coming from Eglinton West station on the University line) or the same bus going west (if coming from Eglinton station on the Yonge line). Both buses run frequently. Get off at Bathurst and walk one (short) block north on the west side of Bathurst.

There is no admission fee, but a small donation to the church's property committee is appreciated.

I'll confess something to you, Steve; I'm on a personal bucket list item to play all of the top 50 games at BGG. "Here I Stand" is currently number 43 and is one of 2 games remaining that I have not played... would you be willing to bring it (HiS) on March 23rd? I'll try to drum up other players. As for "day-killer", yes, I'm expecting that.

Alright, Here I Stand it is. Virgin Queen is a direct sequel, so if you like HiS maybe we can pop out VQ sometime. I'd like to have one of my friends also attend, he is an avid HiS/VQ fan and always looking for a game.

Sounds fine - guests are always welcome. I'll start a thread on the discussion boards shortly.

    Hi Kozure,

I know you asked me about Here I Stand. I would love to bring Here I Stand and/or Virgin Queen (my group prefers the latter) to the table here, if it's appropriate. It's a day-killer, though.
