Details

With 4 big waterfalls Vivian Creek is one of the classic canyons in Southern California. I've been wanting to get out there for a long time.

I do not have a permit but if someone has a fax machine and wants to get one that would be best. Otherwise since it's during the week I'm pretty sure we can just swing by and pick one up. I will call the ranger office to confirm.

Hiking time: 4.2 hours
Estimated hiking distance: 1.8 miles
Elevation gain: 1000 feet
USGS Topo Map: Forest Falls
Difficulties: Four large, wet cascades measuring 160ft, 90ft, 70ft and 120ft.
Special equipment: Rappeling gear, harnesses, 60m rope, 60m recovery cord or second rope, five rappel rings, 50ft webbing, drybags.
ACA Rating: 3B II

Depending on who signs up and where we are all coming from will determine the meet-up time and location. I'd like to car pool if possible as it's a bit of a drive out to the Vivian Creek trailhead. If we car pool from the valley we'll probably meet between 5-6am.

Group Gear:
I have a 200ft rope so we'd need another 200ft (150ft would work too). If you don't have a rope you can still join but we won't have a trip if we don't get the second rope. Bring webbing and rapides if you've got them.

NOTE: Since this is not a guided trip and because canyoneering is a team sport where every member should be able to rappel well, inspect anchors, build new anchors, rig for all contingencies, manage ropes efficiently and contribute in every aspect of the adventure, anyone who's profile doesn't reflect the appropriate training or sufficient experience will not be allowed to participate. Hope you understand.
