One of my favorite canyons in Big Tujunga!!

The Blurb: Stone Plus One Canyon is located in the Big Tujunga section of the San Gabriel Mountains. This canyon is a 2.7 mile, 6-8 hour, 3AIII trip requiring rappelling, down climbing, scrambling, a 1500ft relatively-steep approach ascent, and a possibly-wet feet river crossing. At this time of year, there also might be a dusting of snow on the mountains and the flow in the canyon might be frozen. Woohoo!
Hiking time: 7 hours
Estimated hiking distance: 2.7 miles
Elevation gain: 1100'
Difficulties: 10-11 Rappels to 80 or 150'
ACA Rating: 3AIII
Dry-ish but cold, No Wetsuits; No Car Shuttle
NOTE: Since this is not a guided trip and because canyoneering is a team sport where every member should be able to rappel well, inspect anchors, build new anchors, rig for all contingencies, manage ropes efficiently and contribute in every aspect of the adventure, anyone who's profile doesn't reflect the appropriate training or sufficient experience will not be allowed to participate.
Located north of Burbank/Tujunga, about 7 miles up Big Tujunga Canyon Rd from Foothill Blvd. Since the gate to Wildwood parking area is closed, enter from Vogel Flat Rd (GPS 34.28902,-118.22619) and then turn right at the T-junction for Stoneyvale Rd. Continue about 0.7 mile north-west to a dirt pull-off on the left here: GPS 34.291352,-118.234485. Loop hike, no vehicle shuttle necessary.
