Casada Canyon

Join me for the day, in the 1950's a Marine last name Casada crashed a jet into Josephine Peak, thus the canyon has been named after him. There are 3 rappels 40', 180' and 110'. here is some beta : http://www.dankat.com/advents/casada.htm

This is not a guided trip, you will subject to approval by event host please update your profile to reflect your training in canyoneering. You will need 3 locking Carabiners, self rescue kit, helmet, harness, gloves. Though we will try avoid as much as possible there could be some sections of heavy bushwhacking prepare yourself in the event that is the case. Look forward to exploring this with good folks.

This was fun if you like the explorer type of adventure. Though the hike up is not that bad it's a lot of work for 2 rappels. The drop in has a lot of cacti and yucca to navigate around, some nice down climbing about 3 sections of 40' with some really good rock sections. The end had a lot of bushwhacking maybe toughest I have seen yet, also some quicksand. This wouldn't be for the faint of heart you have to wanna get down in it if you gonna find enjoyable, that's my opinion I had a great time, we had to build cairn anchors and do one knot chock for a down climb, definitely had some of it's own characteristics we found some possible jet pieces and apparently Fernando and Kevin heard a ghost Lol! I think you would like it just maybe a winter canyon you face the sun all day and so much growth you dang sure can't see snakes.

I haven't found anyone that has done this canyon in over 6 years. So just be a little extra prepared, it may not be that clear at points and we may have some fun problems to solve. It seems to me that we have enough experience to figure it out. I do not have a bolt kit nor the experience to place bolts if you do and you wanna carry your bolt kit up the mountain that's on you. However based on what I can tell there should be enough vegetation to anchor to, in this case everyone might wanna bring a little extra webbing in the event that we have to make anchors far from the lip of the drops.
