From Steve Barnes--A new restaurant called Westfall Station Café has opened at 13A Averill Ave. in Averill Park, just off Route 43. The menu, best described as global comfort food, includes pulled-pork egg rolls, Hawaiian poke, New Orleans shrimp, chicken-fried bacon (!!!), Spanish clams, Argentinean surf-n-turf and blackened chicken with mixed-berry sauce.

The chef, Art Wise, has an eclectic background that ranges from a family-owned sound-design company to regional head chef for the ShopRite supermarket chain. The owner is Edward Patanian, the builder responsible for the Westfall Village development.

Hours are from 4 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 3:30 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday (brunch menu coming soon), closed Monday.
