Kings Contrivance Walk & Rita's

Guinness and I miss our favorite walk, So let's walk the KC walk and maybe let the dogs have a little fun in the water half way through the walk. Make sure to bring towels!

The 2-mile walk starts at the KC village center, follows the Middle Patuxent River, and is just beautiful! It's paved and has several small playgrounds for rest stops. There is also a pond along the way where we may see a great blue heron and turtles. Plus, there are several spots along the river where the dogs like to take a dip if they'd like.

Then, when the walk is over, we'll head up to the KC village center courtyard where we can get ICE CREAM and other cold treats at Rita's Ice, which has 4 walk-up windows for ordering with your pooch in tow. The tables are up at the KC Village Center so there should be plenty of seating.

For clear instructions, see our "Where to Meet - Kings Contrivance" sheet in our Files section.

Park behind the Amherst House (shown in the picture here) in the Kings Contrivance Village Center. The walk begins there, and you'll avoid all the Harris Teeter traffic.

It was a nice walk. It was hard to keep Chester on a leash when the other dogs were off leash running in the water. Next time, I will take a longer leash.

Aww!! I'm at work! I miss these walks. Could we plan more walks during evening hours outside typical "9-5 office hours"? Lily and I want to join!

Sorry you cant make it. We have multiple event organizers with different availability for scheduling walks. We also welcome new organizers if you are interested in leading walks in the future (contact our main organizer Mary).
