A call for help! Year of Ox brings big change for Moon Cirlces

Dear Community,
We have created a very beautiful drum circle here in Downtown Orlando that is a welcome home to the entire Central Florida rhythm community. I have seen drum circles and played rhythms with communities around the country in cities like San Fran, New York, Miami and Denver. Thanks to you, I believe the New & Full Moon Drum Circles here in Orlando have become one of the best authentic experiences available in the United States. These celebrations of time continue to grow better and better each and every month thanks to you the community of unity that continues to keep the beat alive through expressions of true self.

While we have all been enriched through these experiences, they aren't for everyone. As our community and circle grows, so does the noise we make. We've now grown so large, that we have disrupted the peaceful living of one of our neighbors on Hyer. Because our circles are often louder than City ordinance allows, we must come to a compromise that maintains the peace for our neighboring community

In order to respect the peace of our neighbors, and to allow our circles to continue, we have been hard at work to make changes to the Moon Circle format so that we can continue forward with drum circles uninterrupted with noise complaints. These changes are made in the spirit of community and respect for our neighbors. These changes are actually a good thing that enables the Moon Circle celebration to grow and evolve into a larger format more inclusive of varied musical talents & tastes.

The main Drum Circle, will now be located behind the Shine On Yoga Studio. This is the indigo building right across the street from Dandelion Cafe. This move creates a distanced sound buffer between us and the residential neighbors on Hyer Ave. It also opens up a great arena for guitars, flutes, didgeridoos, tabla and frame drums in the Bodhi tree garden.

Thanks to Shine On Yoga we will be able to continue drum circle here in Downtown Orlando. Without their support the events would be over. Please be aware of their support of the drum circle community. They are taking on extra liability and time to share their space with us. In exchange, they ask that we respect their sacred space and that no alcohol or tobacco be used on their property. We ask that everyone please honor this simple request and help create a respectful and sacred space for drum circle. Tobacco & Alcohol use will still be allowed across the street at Dandelion Caf?.

Your donations keep these events alive. For the last three years, on each New and Full Moon, a space has been opened and protected for each of us to drum, dance, commune, unite, and grow together. This space is opened thanks to rent, insurance, and the staff to ensure permits are pulled and ordinances followed. Your generous donations keep this space open for all of our community. As the event grows, so do the costs of keeping the space open; so your donations are even more important to keep the beat alive.

The Florida School of Holistic Living is a registered 501c3 Not-For-Profit Educational Organization so your qualifying donations to the drum circles are tax deductible. Please contact Emily Ruff at[masked] if you would like to make a donation today.

Ultimately I believe we must erect concrete sound walls or at least fencing to ensure we are not a nuisance to the surrounding residential neighborhoods. If you, or anyone you know can help with the project to create a safe & sacred drumming space at Shine On Yoga, please call.

Because of the new format, we do need extra help each week to make these events possible. Please contact us if you are able and willing to help with any of the following needs:

? Event set-up beginning at 5:30pm

? Event breakdown & cleanup from 10:00-11pm

? Drum Circle Guardians to politely enforce drum circle etiquette & no smoking policy.

In closing, please share with your friends:
+ Kate Levensohn from Shine On Yoga will continue to share meditation in the garden from 6-7 pm.
+ The main drum circle will now take place behind Shine On Yoga from 7-10 pm.
+ NO SMOKING OR ALCOHOL will be allowed in the circle - we thank you for your honor and respect.
+ Tibetan Bowls, Tablas, Frames, Guitars, Flutes, and Singing Circle will now be open in the Bodhi garden
+ Vendors will be set up within the main parking space adjacent to Dandelion.
+ New vendor applications are now being accepted;
email us if you are a local artist and would like to share your wares.

Thanks to everyone for helping keep the beat alive.
