RE: [drumcircle-212] New Event: Workshop - Middle Eastern & Indian Trance Drumming

Hmmm. I guess you have not looked at the event Calendar, because the Secret Lake Drum Circle is listed this week and every Thursday for the next month. Sorry the Secrete Lake  was not specifically listed on the email. Lots of people have been contacting me to know about educational opportunity and two great workshops popped up this week.

Since we last spoke I have made Justin a co-moderator of the group, so he can still work to promote the Casselberry event. So far, he has not done a thing. That's not my fault. He's a young kid, finding himself. I have personally added all Secret Lake dates to the current calendar with no help from Justin just to keep the event going.

For you information. A drum circle can not have competition. You either want to be there or not. Your schedule permits, or it does not. It's raining, or it's dry. Every cool major city I've ever visited has multiple drum circle events throughout the week. Sometimes two on the same day. True members of the community don't view it as competition, because more drumming is a beautiful thing. It means our community is strong.

Yes, I changed the name. Casselberry is part of Central Florida, which is where we live. Justin pissed allot of people off when he added 'Orlando' to his Casselberry group name. What does Orlando have to do with Casselberry? Nothing he used the word Orlando as a marketing tool to bring in more members. For me the name change was also a marketing decision. More people resonate with Central Florida than Casselberry.

We're trying to build a strong, vibrant and varied drum circle community. So Shame on you for the negativity. This is the only complaint I've recieved. New membership is up. Everyone else appreciates the change in direction because it presents more opportunity to grow.

I will list any free drum circle event on the meetup calendar. We're trying to present a central calendar source for any drum circle event taking place throughout Central Florida. So let people know.

Sincerly,

What has happened to the Casselberry listings? Did you just take over the Casselbery site  to get rid of it because it was competition? I was under the impression from what you said that you had every intention of keeping that group going. But it seems that you just wanted to dismantle anything not in your line of interest.
I don't see any mention of the weekly meetup here and I see you have completly changed the meetup's name.. which was your sole intention fom the beginning.. Shame on you.

Announcing a new event for The Central Florida / Orlando Drum Circle Community Meetup!

What: Workshop - Middle Eastern & Indian Trance Drumming

When: Friday, August 3, 9:00 PM

Event fee: USD12.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: Friday Night Nirvana
at You Health Center
www.youhealthcenter.com

There are three separate workshops to choose from tonight, but the one of most interest to the drum circle community is the last session that starts at 9pm.

Jesse Rodgers, aka Talisen of Bardic Productions , will lead a Middle Eastern drum workshop from 9pm to 12 midnight. Talisen is also joined by Tabla David who brings the elegance of classical Indian rhythm into this dynamic trance drumming workshop.

The workshop will focus on traditional Middle Eastern and Indian rhythm.
Beginner through advanced students are welcome.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own frame drum, dumbek or tablas. There are a few drums available to share, but these are on a first come, first serve basis. We will also focus on alternative percussion instruments, like shakers, bells, singing bowls, claves, and castanetas. Learn hand technique, Middle Eastern rhythms, and how to trance with the groove.

We will start out with a formal workshop for the first 90 minutes and then slide into an ambient trance rhythm till night's end. Get your weekend started right! Join us at You Health Center's Friday Night Nirvana.
