Nothing Like Kicking a Man When He's Down

Nothing Like Kicking a Man When He's Down
As the economy worsens, many more will be homeless.  Is this a precedent -- to place them in prisons or work houses?
To Columbia Mayor and Council:
Do you think the homeless policy is a statement that the people of South Carolina will want for its Capitol City? We don't.
The church communities of this City, if they are what they say, should and could handle this situation in a much better way.
We support the shelters; we give these people work.  We hope you will give them a chance.
Thanks to John for the following (addressed to Columbia authorities)
It is now a crime to be homeless in Columbia, SC?
When did being homeless result in the loss of Constitutional rights?
Are we now re-creating debtors prisons?
Amendment IV
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall NOT be violated and NO warrants shall issue, but upon Probable Cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, & particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
The Constitution is the highest law in the land.  Now please do not regurgitate usurpations.  Go back to the Constitution & learn about what should be done.
Our ancestors shed blood & died to give us the right to be free from arrest without a warrant.  Read the Bill of Rights.  the question is whether Columbia police will obey the law.  if Columbia police have nothing to hide they will respect the Bill of Rights & they will not ask for permission to violate the law.  What happens if you ask for permission to violate the law?  Allow police to violate the Bill of Rights & step onto a slippery slope.
City of Columbia will meet 9/3/13 to discuss Homelessness and Emergency Shelter. (shelter or prison)
