Re: [pa-webdev] I didn't want this group to die!

Hello,
I'm from the Harrisburg, PA area.  I haven't been too active in the group yet, but enjoy getting feedback and knowledge from other techies.
@Shari - I have been developing more in Wordpress lately and really liking it. It gives the client an easy way to update themselves too which they really seem to like.  I have been finding great themes that I further customize too for a better look too.
@Clinton - "hacker for life"... love it! :-)

I still don't have many clients, but building a decent 'on the side' client base and connections with people in the area who need a website for their small business.  Great to connect with you two so far too!

Hi there,

I'm from State College, but I haven't had the opportunity to make the trip down yet. I hope it doesn't die by the time I get to finally visit!

Also, I've been having a successful Ruby group in the State College area for a while, and it's on the second Wednesday of each month. We have a new hackerspace in State College, and we host it there with drinks and a projector. I thought about starting a HTML+CSS+JS group to meet on the 1st or 3rd Wednesday each month, done in a very similar fashion. We'd have someone do a 30-45 minute presentation first as a tutorial or introduction to new libraries, and then we break into smaller social groups to show off portfolios or help each other with projects.

If either of those groups sounds good to you, please feel free to visit us in State College sometime! Otherwise, I hope to meet some of you at the Harrisburg Barcamp.

Thanks for your time,

Clinton Judy

Hi everyone,

I am developing a website for myself and my business and want the opportunity to network with and pick the brains of techies, graphic designers and anybody else, whatever your title.  I would appreciate some feedback regarding meetings.  What day of the week, what time of day, how many in a month, workshops, speakers, do we need to have a meeting for technical aspects and one for design, etc.  I have a gallery in Middletown with a large screen and projector where people could share their work, ideas and feedback.  I am interested in how people are using wordpress for their sites, yet I prefer to be more creative than what I have seen.  I do not brag about my website currently and it is NOT up to date, but if you want to check out sharibrandt.com.  Let me know your url or your creation.

Thanks, hope to hear from you!

Shari
