Here is a news article called "Indian atheists seek recognition in the land of a million gods" but it might depress some of us.

There may have been a time in recent Indian history when profession of atheism would have led to violence and, perhaps, the death of the proponent. This article can be considered a progression from that state of affairs. The discussion in the comments after the article was encouraging also. We should support secular movements where and when they arise. Does CFI have a presence in India?

Two centers: One in Pune, one in Delhi.

But the page does not appear to be active, so I am not sure what they are doing. From what I gather, they have focused mainly on evidence-based medicine vs. witch doctors.
