Join us for a quick look (45 - 50 minutes) into the fascinating world of Cellular Automata! Cellular Automata are a type of simulation that has been a part of Computer Science history since the 1940's!

This presentation is accessible to all skill levels, as a majority of the presentation is code free.

The following questions will be covered:

- What exactly are Cellular Automata?
- How do Cellular Automata work?
- What types of Cellular Automata are there?
- How have Cellular Automata changed throughout history?

At the end of the presentation there will be a code demo written entirely in Javascript, and attendees will get a chance to ask questions about the challenges in implementing Cellular Automata in code.

Caleb Martinez is a native Charlottean and Software Engineer working at LeanTaas, a company that improves healthcare through machine learning and data science. His interest in Cellular Automata began when he saw that a friend of his was drawing reactive diffusion pieces by hand, and he learned that that model was closely related to computer science and Cellular Automata.
