Save the date! Bonjour Solidarity chez Grace - #2

Report from the front:

After much discussion and etc., we have upped the entry fee a bit (it is a fundraiser, after all) to cover one drink, and snacks. After that, we'll have a cash bar. The silent auction, the tombola, the musicians who'll donate their services - it will all add up to something like completely worthwhile fun. Please do contribute what you can - a quiche, nibbles, old clothes and men's shoes....ask if you have any questions! Most of all....COME!

The clock is ticking! Only three more months til I leave my chez Grace space on the rue des Abbesses.

In a departure from the mostly arty art shows here, I am following my heart toward other types of happenings here, to wit:

I've offered chez Grace's space for a fund-raiser to help l'Auberge des Migrants, through Bonjour Solidarity.

Bonjour Solidarity is a Paris-based blog that has begun a small, grass-roots, direct action effort to help the migrants in the camps of Calais. Here's its motto:

"One act of gratitude, generosity or solidarity—sometimes all three—every week of 2016."

The idea is to have fun and raise money. That is, raise money and have fun. To that end, there'll be music, food, surprises AND a silent auction, and raffle, or tombola as you guys like to say.

More ideas most welcome! More details to come.

In the meantime, you can read all about it here:

Hi Gracie from the UES of da big apple.

May I suggest that guests bring a sac that can be reused, filled with all the soaps, toothbrushes, lip balm, tissues, etc. that one gathers in airplanes, hotels, in rubbish bins, stuff left behind.

Pass all this stuff on to those in desperate need; these things taking up space in drawers, bath cabinets, closets.

Two kinds of people in this world: Hosts & Guests . And you set a very high standard & role model for your fellow hosts.

Sorry to miss this blast and a half. Long way from da Bronx eh???????

Grace, you've brought so much to so many via your events whether art, theatre and charity. Looking forward to seeing you in the next chapter of your fascinating world!

I've got two books (not by me), one for the raffle and one for the auction...or both for the raffle. I've also got clothes that I am busy sorting and labelling as per the recommendations on the blog...if I can park my car....Otherwise, I can drop them off myself in Calais in a fortnight's time.

Fantastic Grace - you are wonderful and so thoughtful - and definitely an amazing hostess - although I may well not be in France, once again, so I will miss the fun. However, I have contacted Bonjour Solidarity as I often drive over to the UK via Calais and already have quite a few things to take.
