Why did you first get interested in knitting?

I had been doing other crafts, such as cross-stitch, since I was 6 years old, and my mom sewed and crocheted, so I always was interested in fiber arts. But for knitting in particular, I just wanted to make a winter hat to fit my enormous head.

Who taught you to knit?

You're lookin' at her. I bought a book at a Wal-Mart called "I Taught Myself Knitting" and some needles. My mom gave me some extra yarn from one of her crochet projects, and I was off to the races.

How long have you been knitting?

Since 1992, when I was in college. Eep!

I was part of an informal knitting group here in the PRHP (People's Republic of Hyde Park), but everyone else finished their grad programs and moved on, until it was just me and one other person. I'm looking forward to knitting with a group again.
