February Meetup-Special Guest Annie Crawley

Our guest this month is Woman's Diver Hall of Fame member Annie Crawley. We are meeting on a different day than our usual meeting date this month.

Explore Our Blue World
With Filmmaker Annie Crawley Tue. Feb 26, 2013
Annie shares Blue Heart Ocean Soul with Scuba Meetup!

Journey around the world to Indonesia, Galapagos, Puget Sound, Grand Cayman and beyond. Experience hammerhead sharks, mantas, and more! Be inspired and bring friends: Tuesday February 26, 2013 from 7-9 PM Jaks Tap at 901 W. Jackson Chicago, IL

Join journalist, producer, filmmaker, and PADI Scuba Diving Instructor Annie Crawley to share stories, photographs and videos from expeditions to Indonesia, Galapagos, Palau, Puget Sound and more. You will travel together on to see and hear stories about hammerhead sharks, wunderpus, flamboyant cuttlefish, coral reefs and some recent images from Raja Ampat and Lembeh Strait. Everything we do on land affects our ocean! Annie will entertain and educate you about some current issues you can be a part of. She will also discuss photo and video tips on how she captured the images. Annie has worked around the world on assignment with both scientists and production crews. Her stories will inspire you.

Originally from Chicago, Annie did not see the ocean or learn to scuba dive until after college. She has dedicated her life to documenting it and changing the way we view the ocean and ourselves. This presentation is appropriate for all, bring your friends and family! As a deep sea diver and underwater photographer and filmmaker she is going to introduce you to an imaginary world that is REAL!

Annie was terrific!!! She was an inspiration to me as I ultimately would like to be an adolescent educator regarding scuba, conservation and underwater opportunities!! She was sooo wonderful at individualizing us as her audience and knowing our names or what each of us were interested in specifically!! She was more than gracious with her time and offering to share her expertise afterward!! The program was beautiful and interactive and it left me optimistic and hopeful!!! Thanks to Annie!!! It was terrific!!!

What Annie did best was to understand her audience and include all us in her presentation. That kind of acknowledgement is a trait of a professional speaker. Let it be an inspiration for all of us when we have to speak to the group!
