Announcing a new Meetup for Chicago Web Professionals Meetup Group!

What: Information Architecture and User Experience

When: Tuesday, May 11,[masked]:00 PM

Event fee: $2.00 per person

1823 Church Street
Evanston, IL 60201

Thanks to Bill Stafford for an informative session on "jQuery for Designers" in April. Bill made this understandable and easy to grasp for everyone.

Join us on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 7PM when Debbie Kong of Debbie Kong Design presents "Information Architecture and User Experience." Information Architecture is an important component in the design of a site or application. It lies underneath good visual design and is an important part of creating a great user experience, increasing usability, traffic and conversion rates. Can the site you design pass the test of having good information architecture and create a great user experience for your users?

Using a current process for Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, she will address the questions:
  • What is Information Architecture and User Experience?
  • What do IAUX designers do?
  • What are the benefits of having good information architecture and how will it help the web site or application I design?

Despite my cautionary comments this past meeting about use of the space at BooCoo Cultural Center, we will be meeting there as usual (1823 Church Street, Evanston 60201). There is a free parking lot across the street that belongs to Evanston Township High School that is open for our use. Otherwise, there should be ample street parking along Dodge Avenue or Church Street. Like any semi-urban area, there have been crime reports in this neighborhood in the past. There is no need to be unduly alarmed... just use good sense as you come and go to your car. If you change your mind about coming, please do us the courtesy of changing your RSVP to "NO" to make room for other attendees.

There have been more than a few requests for more presentations on Wordpress, so we will be focusing on that in June with Dennis Deacon and Becky Davis. I have it under good authority that Kendall may be interested in a more in depth look at joomla!, so standby.

I look forward to seeing you May 11... Keep enjoying our long spring!
